About this programme

This introductory programme — the Clinical Gateway module — explains why and how peptides have moved into clinical practice. It establishes the reasoning, governance and evidence-appraisal framework used throughout the Institute's clinical curriculum, and is deliberately compound-agnostic: its purpose is to train clinicians how to think about emerging therapies, not what to prescribe.

Learning objectives

  • Explain why and how peptides have moved into clinical practice.
  • Map the current evidence landscape for therapeutic peptides.
  • Apply structured tools to critically appraise different study designs.
  • Reason transparently under conditions of evolving evidence.
  • Recognise governance and safety principles relevant to emerging therapies.
  • Communicate uncertainty to patients in a way that supports informed consent.
  • Identify the regulatory boundaries that apply in U.S. clinical practice.

This programme is educational in nature and written for a United States audience. It does not promote, market or recommend any drug, biologic, device or dietary supplement, and it does not provide prescribing protocols. The U.S. regulatory status of individual peptides — including approval, investigational status, and eligibility for pharmacy compounding under Sections 503A/503B — is determined by the FDA and may change over time. Clinical decisions remain the responsibility of individual U.S.-licensed practitioners operating within their state scope of practice and applicable federal and state law.
